Oil, Gas … What Else? What’s Hot And What’s Not!

SAN DIEGO - (ETFguide.com) – This weeks top 10 best performing ETFs reflect the recent surge in oil and gas prices. The top eight ETFs are all oil and gas related. All of the top 10 are oil, gas or commodity related.

You have to look down to number 16 and 17 to find the first non-energy related equity fund. The SPDRs S&P Homebuilders ETF (Ticker: XHB) is up 15.2% followed by the iShares Dow Jones Transportation Average (Ticker: IYT) with a 14.6% gain.

Interesting to note is the performance of the iShares MSCI Turkey (Ticker: TUR), up 13.1% and iShares MSCI Israel (Ticker: EIS), up 7.4% as both ETFs were just launched on 03-26-2008.

Ironically, two of the top three worst performing ETFs are from the alternative energy sector which obviously did not benefit (yet) from the high oil and gas prices.
